FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2009
Noon SLT (Second Life Time – U.S. Pacific Time):

Friday Opening Keynote Addresses in Adobe Connect:
Jeremy W. Kemp - an instructional designer at San José State University and started teaching online in 1999. He keeps the official wiki for educators using the Second Life immersive environment — www.simteach.com. His instructional technology project connecting Moodle and Second Life has attracted hundreds of participants from around the world — www.sloodle.com.

Anders Gronstedt. “Enterprises in Virtual Worlds”:
A new breed of people are entering the workforce and market place, with little patience for traditional doldrums of “Web 1.0” corporate communications and learning. They want to be engaged, in control, and part of the storyline. Leading companies are turbo-charging employee and customer performance with virtual world activities that focus on doing, simulating, socializing, playing, sharing, and collaborating. Learn how small businesses and Fortune 100 companies are redefining and energizing learning with the vibrant “Web 3D”: Schneider Electric used Second Life for a planning meeting with a key client; the Gronstedt Group has grown its weekly Train for Success meetings to a 700 person community; IBM and Sun Microsystems have thousands of employees virtual worlds to recruit, onboard, network, inspire, teach, coach, mentor, and engage their talent.
Anders Gronstedt, Ph.D. is the president of the Gronstedt Group, which helps global companies like Dell, Sun Microsystems, Jamba Juice, Volvo Cars, Ericsson and ADT improve workplace performance. His articles have appeared in the Harvard Business Review, and he is the host of the weekly “Train for Success” meetings in Second Life.

SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2009
8:00 a.m. SLT:

Bryan Carter is an Associate Professor, African American literature, visual culture and composition at the University of Central Missouri. He has taught in Second Life for several years and has been involved in the design and develop of several islands in Second Life, including Virtual Harlem and Virtual Montmarte.
